This will be backed with a virally driven online campaign to promote Daxter, allowing users to earn a diploma by engaging in a variety of activities including a bug hunt mini-game, how-to bug mixers, and lessons on exterminating metal bugs.
The Daxter micro-site will feature a variety of interactive content. The campaign is expected to garner more than 69.5 million impressions. Utilizing custom and exclusive opportunities through brands like Comedy Central, IGN, GameSpot, Penny Arcade and Atom Films, Daxter is reaching audiences in unique and interactive ways, including custom trailers, an online comic, integrated sponsorships and mini-games. The online advertising campaign will focus on driving the message that Daxter is a completely new take on the franchise.
DAXTER PSP GAMEPLAY TV
The television campaign for Daxter begins the week of March 13, and will air on Cable, Syndication, and Network programming that includes Comedy Central (Chappelle Show, South Park), FX (That 70's Show, Fear Factor), MTV, Cartoon Network (Adult Swim), Spike TV (The Shield), and FOX (King of the Hill, Mad TV, Prison Break).
National Broadcast/Cable Advertising Campaign:ĭaxter will be included in the PSP hardware TV campaign reaching millions of consumers nationwide. Daxter also features interoperability between the PSP system and the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system by connecting with Jak X: Combat Racing™ to unlock secret characters, vehicles and more. Players will be encouraged to collect in-game items to customize their bugs and pit them against others wirelessly via Ad Hoc mode on the PSP system. In addition to numerous hours of action, Daxter supports a two-player "Rock Paper Scissors" inspired "Bug Combat" mini-game. Another imaginative gameplay mechanic allows players to join Daxter inside dreams levels where he takes the star role and acts out his fantasies of being a full-fledged action hero. Daxter also possesses unique weapons to help him out, including an electric swatter and bug spray gun, which enable him to crush and blast metal bugs or hover through challenging levels. On his own in Haven City, Daxter takes on a job as a pest exterminator to collect clues that will lead him to Jak, but he soon discovers more excitement than he bargained for.ĭaxter's feral-like moves provide him with the ability to crawl on all fours, climb walls, creep up on enemies and maneuver through small places.
